Art, Heritage, and Horses: A Creative Collaboration with Siddharth Memorial Charitable Trust

As part of STAAD’s ongoing commitment to celebrating Indian heritage and equestrian culture, I had the honor of conducting an art session with the bright young minds at Siddharth Memorial Charitable Trust in Noida. The session was a beautiful exchange of history, stories, and imagination. Together, we explored the significance of horses throughout Indian history — from the valor of Chetak, Maharana Pratap’s legendary steed, to the regal traditions of polo that once adorned royal courts. The students were deeply engaged, asking questions and sharing their perspectives as we delved into how horses have not only shaped warfare and sport but also influenced our culture, art, and identity over centuries.

Following our discussion, the students channeled their learnings into vibrant artwork — each piece a reflection of the stories they had just heard and the pride they felt in our shared heritage. These heartfelt creations were later included in a special candle gifting presented at the Jindal Polo Open Championship, making the event not just a celebration of sport, but also of young talent and historical memory. This collaboration was a small but meaningful step in connecting India’s past with its present, through the eyes of a new generation.

STAAD x Jindal Polo Open Championship

Becoming the official gifting partner at the Jindal Polo Open Championship was more than just a brand moment — it was a personal milestone. As someone who only recently started STAAD, standing alongside legends of the polo world, offering gifts wrapped in the essence of our brand, felt surreal. I found myself face-to-face with individuals I’ve long admired, now receiving something I had created. It was humbling, affirming, and a moment I’ll carry with me forever.

Preserving the Raga: Was It Only Royalty Who Saved Indian Classical Music?

Guardians of the Gharana

What began as a musical journey became a meditation on memory. Mrs. Ruchi Telang reflects on her guru, the gharana that shaped her, and the quiet labor of preserving ragas — now without royal support. Once, Raj Gharanas offered musicians not just patronage, but purpose. Unlike stylistic or lineage-based gharanas, they were rooted in royal courts that safeguarded tradition. Without kings or courts today, who carries this legacy forward?
